Nobel Prize in Literature

THE NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE for ABDULRAZAK GURNAH – OCTOBER 2021

This is a significant moment for African literature. So far, the continent has seen six literature laureates, including Wole Soyinka (Nigeria), Naguib Mahfouz (Egypt) Nadine Gordimer (South Africa) J.M. Coetzee (South Africa), and Doris Lessing (UK-Zimbabwe).

There are authors like Ngugi wa Thiong’o, University of California emeritus, to name just one, who has more than paid his dues. It’s about time he caught the eyes of the decision makers.
